What is the Post-Secondary Transition Program?

The Post-Secondary Transition Program begins between the end of your junior year and the start of senior year when you first meet your transition mentor. From this point and up until mid-way through your senior year, you will have 2 mentors: your high school mentor and your transition mentor.

After your Senior Transition, between December & January of senior year, your time in the Summer Search High School Program will officially close. In this meeting, you will say goodbye to your high school mentor and also solidify your goals for the rest of senior year and your first year after graduation with your transition mentor who will continue to mentor you throughout that next year. Please see below for more details on the steps you will take throughout the Transition Program:

Senior Reflection Deadline 2025: TBD

01

Meet your transition mentor

At the end of junior year (usually before you go on your second summer experience), you will meet your transition mentor. This mentor is part of the Post-Secondary Transition Program and will be supporting you with your post-secondary plans as you move through senior year and into your first year after high school.

02

03

Connect with your transition mentor at least twice a month throughout senior year

During your senior year, your transition mentor can support with things like planning for your future, researching and comparing various post-secondary pathways, college applications, personal essay writing, financial aid applications like FAFSA and CA Dream Act Application, scholarship applications, resume building, budgeting, and job interview prep.

04

Complete the senior survey

This is similar to the Sophomore Survey that you completed when you joined Summer Search. We use this survey to compare your responses at the end of senior year to the ones you gave during sophomore year. This lets us know what things about Summer Search we should keep the same and where we should make changes!

06

Have a Senior Reflection Meeting

Your Senior Reflection Meeting is when you will officially close out your time in the Summer Search High School Program and move fully into the Summer Search Post-Secondary Transition Program.
