About Sophomore Group
Connection | Community | Common Ground
Summer Search groups were launched in 2014 in response to student requests for more community with other Summer Searchers. During Sophomore Group, you will build relationships with the other Summer Searchers, establish expectations & group norms, and prepare for your summer experiences.
Group is scheduled by your mentor and will take place in-person (usually at your school). Group is a required part of the Summer Search program; however, we know things can get busy so you can plan to miss two groups per semester if needed. Please let your mentor know beforehand.
Sophomore Group Calendar 2023
February
Session 1 - Meet your group
Session 2 - Continue introductions, learn about one another, and create group agreements
March
Session 3 - Share an important object and finish setting group agreements
Session 4 - Begin talking about your summer experience and being in the outdoors
April
Session 5 - Continue to talk about and prepare for your summer experience
Session 6 - Get a chance to speak with older Summer Search Students who have already gone on their sophomore summer experience.
May
Session 7 - Wrapping up, celebrating, and saying goodbye for the summer.
